HOPE worldwide Philippines’ Relief and Psychosocial Efforts for the Victims of Typhoon Washi (Sendong)

Dear Friends of HOPE worldwide Philippines,

Typhoon Sendong (Washi) has taken 1,080 lives as of December 23 and left 1,979 injured and 1079 missing. (National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council Report)
Cagayan de Oro and Iligan City are unexpectedly and severely damaged by the typhoon’s wrath as flashfloods immediately swept away people and their houses in the dead of the night in December 16, 2011. Thousands are left homeless without food, water and other necessities.
Survivors from Mindanao is crying for help and HOPE worldwide Philippines responded on their call for help by mobilizing 10 staffs to provide psycho-social care, child protection and basic relief services to 10,000 beneficiaries. We estimate the costs for one month program of US$20,000. Please join us in this effort.”
