Are you or your community ready for a double whammy of nature like this?

This video of the Tsunami (viewed from groundlevel in Japan) gives and inkling of what people experienced that day. I am rather impressed by the fact that the streets were cleared of people and pedestrians where this footage was taken.

A Taiwanese student reported that he was impressed at how orderly many of the Japanese responded to the tsunami and earthquake in many parts along the coast. The student shared how the people were much more prepared than they would have been in his homeland–with even designated cooks at the emergency shelter well-ahead of events.

Another small village that was on the coast had all citizens survive. Every month (twice a month) for years they practiced and had drills as to what to do in the event of an earthquake.

Even though so many have died and suffering, it says a lot about being prepared for the worst as much as possible–and not taking mother nature for granted, like many global warming neysayers do.
