HOW CAN WE GET RON JOHNSON, ROY BLUNT AND PAT TOOMEY IMPEACHED IN 2011

Missourians need to lead the way in impeaching bad law makers, like Roy Blunt. Other states need to put pressure on the science-deniars.–KAS

It’s a little unbelievable, but true – back in 1990 — ALL THREE legislators voted in favor of giving new regulatory authority to the EPA under the Clean Air Act.

Even before the current wave of climate deniers even considered running for Congress, Republicans and Democrats actually came together and recognized the need to protect the public health. They gave the EPA the power to take action under the Clean Air Act to regulate acid rain, toxic air pollution, and urban air quality.

Can you imagine a bi-partisan vote like that happening today – especially with vehement climate deniers like Ron Johnson, Roy “Big Oil” Blunt and Pat Toomey about to take their place in the Senate? The 112th Congress is certainly going to be a much more challenging legislative environment.

Today – on the 20th anniversary of that historic Clean Air Act vote – will you sign our petition asking the Congressional leadership and the President to stand up to Big Oil, Dirty Coal, and the new climate deniers in Congress and protect the Clean Air Act?

Those 1990 amendments to the Clean Air Act passed in the House by a vote of 401-25 and in the Senate by a vote of 89-10. President George H.W. Bush signed the Clean Air Act Amendments into law on November 15, 1990.

But with Big Oil and Dirty Coal spending millions to defeat comprehensive clean energy and climate legislation this year and with their new climate denier allies ready to push a radically anti-environment agenda in the 112th Congress, the days of House and Senate members joining together to protect the public health and the planet will be much more limited.

Help us send a clear message to Congress and President Obama — no special deals with big polluters or climate deniers to undermine the Clean Air Act. We need your help to protect the public health and ensure dirty polluters are held accountable.
