Dear Mom’s Rising,

Dear Mom’s Rising,

What are you going to do about the sexist letter by former Republican Senator Alan Simpson?????
According to various news and blog reports, “Simpson, last week, sent an arrogant, sexist letter to the Older Women's League calling Social Security ‘a milk cow with 310 million tits.’ Simpson co-chairs the National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform, which is supposed to propose ways to reduce our national debt.”

Mom’s Rising is “a soapbox where people across our nation can talk politics, policy, and parenting. The views expressed in these blogs aren't necessarily representative of MomsRising policy positions or active campaigns.”
I have been observing a lot of anti-social security email from conservative crazies in recent months.
I think Mom’s and America need to get on the Offensive against this non-sense against one of America’s best projects.

NOTES

Dear Kevin,
Last week, former Republican Senator Alan Simpson sent an arrogant, sexist letter to the Older Women's League calling Social Security "a milk cow with 310 million tits."
Simpson co-chairs the National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform, which is supposed to propose ways to reduce our national debt.
Simpson should know Social Security has absolutely no impact on the national debt. Every penny goes directly from our payroll deductions into the Social Security Trust Fund, which is fully funded until 2037.
We will shortly launch a campaign to fire Simpson and to take all Social Security cuts "off the table." But it's election time, and we must be sure to keep the Senate in Democratic hands, and not let extremist Tea Party Republicans take over - including Joe Miller of Alaska, who declared Social Security unconstitutional.
Please stand with Senate Democrats and declare your support for protecting Social Security.

Thanks for all you do!

Dear Activist,
August 14 marked the 75th anniversary of the passage of Social Security. For three quarters of a century, Social Security has ensured that our seniors retain their dignity in old age.

Now, Republicans are desperate to dismantle Social Security. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell would cut Social Security to give more tax breaks to the wealthiest Americans, and right-wing Tea Party Republican candidates are lining up behind him. They just can't seem to tolerate a program that helps the middle class and not corporate special interests.
Stand with Senate Democrats now and declare your support for protecting Social Security. We can't let the GOP revive their rejected, Bush-Era, Social Security privatization plan.
