The family home I thought would always be there in East Jerusalem, near the ANERA office, is on the brink of being taken away from us to make a new home for a settler family. I can only thank God my grandparents are not here to see themselves turned into refugees for a second time.

Yet I consider myself lucky.

I joined ANERA as a communications officer almost two years ago and it has been an experience that has expanded my perspective. Through my work, I have the great privilege of meeting the families that you help. All of them face obstacles, restrictions and upheavals in their daily lives. This is made worse by deep poverty and a sense that our lives will never be free from the grip of a long drama over which we have no power or control.

But together, we remain grateful to people around the world who send us messages of support and make the work of ANERA possible. For so many of us, ANERA is a piece of our lives where we can truly say that progress is being made.

We are making a difference by providing young people with good places to learn, linking families to reliable water sources, equipping farmers with the means to grow and sell their produce, and supplying health care facilities with vital medicines.
