WRITERS’ STRIKE PROVIDES OPPORTUNITIES: Think! Instead of Watching Reruns—Change the World: Day 1

Suggestion #1: Clean Ports and Waterways
Well, I for one am not saddened by a writer’s strike.
As badly as the U.S. political economy has been run over the past two decades or more, it is a surprise that strikes haven’t been more frequent in America.
The only explanation is that the owners, government and media have been implementing the law poorly and throwing aside good governance.
Just look at the strike in harbors of Long Beach and Los Angeles that has been put off again until at least 2008 due to government siding with misguide port authorities et. Al.—even though we are talking about health hazards galore out in Long Beach and in rivers and other waterways in California and across the nation.
Community for Clean Ports claims that nearly 20 billion dollars in health related costs stem from port pollution and contamination so for in 2007!
Safe harbors, beaches, rivers, and water should be our top priority when we think of our social, political and economic quality of life. How can we think about enjoying NATURAL AMERICA and our times off from work when waste and contamination are out of control wherever H20 are not monitored by citizen activists properly?
Instead of sending soldiers off to get in trouble and die needlessly in foreign wars, America should be paying for a large Conservation Corp. Pay these citizens in the corps at least as well as those in the military are paid—and demand improve military benefits’ levels to boot!
Before the next drought rolls around or before global warming changes America’s topography much more, (1) turn off the TV, (2) think of problems—like WATER--, (3) tell your congressmen, senators and the neglectful Executive Branch to get America Clean—starting in its waters.
