WRITERS’ STRIKE PROVIDES OPPORTUNITIES: Think! Instead of Watching Reruns—Change the World: Day 2

WRITERS’ STRIKE PROVIDES OPPORTUNITIES: Think! Instead of Watching Reruns—Change the World: Day 2

By Kevin A. Stoda

Suggestion #2: Clean House, Senate, and White House

Well, I as I indicated yesterday--I am not saddened by the writers’ strike.

As badly as the U.S. status quo has been allowing the distortion of American politics, the justice system, & social balances (between rich and poor), it is about time that every individual run for office and demand a house-cleaning in 2008 and 2009.

This means that instead of watching news of the writers’ strike and bad reruns of bad sit-coms, Americans should take a half-hour (or more) each day to candidate for either themselves, for a loved one, or for a decent-candidate for congress, senate or president.

GO KUCINICH GO

Presidential Candidate Dennis Kucinich’s (OH-Rep) recent article, IT’S TIME TO IMPEACH CHENEY at http://www.opednews.com/articles/opedne_dennis_k_071105_it_s_time_to_impeach.htm
is a great motivating tool for all those slackers and nay-sayers who think the time to impeach war criminals is a concept whose time has passed.

Either [a] close down the government in the coming weeks--by crashing the internet, fax machines and phone lines--or [b] support in a big way Mr. Dennis Kucinich and other candidates who are willing to both run for office and to seek the impeachments of Cheney--and then Bush--before these bullies and their cronies take us to other regional wars, like in Iran, Turkey or Pakistan.

Kucinich is running his campaign primarily on the issue of reinstating constitutional democracy in America. Check out and consider the other issues he raises at: http://www.dennis4president.com/go/issues/ This site also talks about what needs to be done to get Impeachment NOW.

Most admirable about Kucinich has been the fact that he has consistently voted against the war-mongering that has bamboozled other congressmen and senators for too long.

RUN RICHARDSON RUN

Bill Richardson (NM-Gov) is running on many of the same key issues that should already have 10s millions of Americans in the streets each week.
Richardson wants to end the war in Iraq as fast as possible, too, and he wants better relations with most countries in the world as the number one aim of America’s foreign policy—i.e. not making wars and sending the U.S. economy and lives of its citizens into graves via the process of Imperialism, i.e. throwing a bomb and watching it go—“ooohing and aahhing” like children with sparklers or bottle rockets (or FOX News likes to do).

Don’t ignore the facts: 850 American soldiers have died already in Iraq this year—the highest number in 4 years. We have got to get out of the quagmire!

Richardson, whose issue website is at http://www.richardsonforpresident.com/issues/ , is one of the most likely candidates to get the spending priorities and jobs-creation activities of the federal government churning as he seeks to have good relations with neighbors to the South--while building at the same time building a sane economy and return to constitutional law in the USA.

WHY NOT HAVE A RICHARDSON-KUCINICH TICKET?

We would certainly have one of the most solid presidential election tickets in recent history if we would offer a Kucinich-Richardson ticket (or visa versa) for the presidency this coming year. One good candidate from New Mexico and the other from Ohio would wow the pollsters. It would also wake up the status-quo media who ignore these two candidates regularly.

Since over 50% of Americans potentially oppose a Clinton nomination, it is time for a much better set of candidates and partnership be set up and discussed early. Then, we could vote for them both in the democratic primaries and knock out everyone else.

If that doesn’t seem workable, let them create an alliance now and run as THE OPPOSITION.

If the Democratic Party doesn’t accept these best two candidates, the duo could nevertheless build a progressive machine that could still go out and collect 33% or more of the presidential vote. (Compared to Clinton or anyone that the Republican Party has put up so far, an early declared Richardson-tied-to-Kucinich ticket would shift the whole election in the directions Progressives need it to be.)

ALTERNATIVES

Alright, existing alternative parties like the Greens already exist and they have platforms. (See http://www.gp.org/ or http://www.greenparty.org/index.php )

However, I ask Greens and other alternatives to now begin to consider putting up the absolute best opposition to business-as-usual Bush and Clinton this 2008 by giving out a shout that cannot be ignored by those Clinton-oriented politicians and voters.

In short, Clinton will be told that she cannot get elected if she and her side-kicks don’t bring the issues that Kucinich and Richardson resonate with.

These two candidates (and only a few others) are serious about supporting the Middle Class and building better bridges between elite and poor in America.

Moreover, these two leaders will BRING THE BOYS (AND GIRLS) HOME from wars where they don’t belong.

LET’S PREPARE NOW to get a GOOD PROGRESSIVE TICKET ON THE BALLOT IN 50 STATES as early as possible.

MORE CANDIDATES NEEDED

In the meantime, I am at this very second formally putting my name into the ring to run against Pat Roberts (Sen-R) as Senator for the State of Kansas in 2008.

Roberts has not stood up against the current run-away foreign policy leaving so many from Ft. Riley in Iraq, injured or dead. I have written him to ask that Bush-Cheney to back off of Iran and stop wasting U.S. tax dollars.

Roberts has refused to do so. He seems to want to continue the current status-quo forever. Moreover, he has not supported any impeachment nor sound budget in a decade or more.

Therefore, I am currently planning to run in both the Republican and Democratic Party primaries, but if that doesn’t pan out, I will run as a write-in.

I might also run simultaneously in Missouri, too.

I am primarily running to set an example—we concerned Americans need to set up some sort of mechanism to get long-term and short-term concerns brought to the attention of local media and national. WE need to be prepared to run and make our voices louder.

Don’t try to outspend your opponent. Just set an example and tell everyone you will run in each and every election forever—getting the word out: YOU are serious about certain issues.

What better way to get a good team of progressives together than to have dozens of good candidates getting their two-cents in the newspaper each day--rather than continue to accept the mediocre individuals we have been offered in recent decades .

Let’s run permanent campaigns. Don’t think just 2008!

Think about running and putting your two-cents in every single election and also get some constitutional amendments passed that will lead to fairer and more balance in congressional representation—like having proportional balloting systems introduced and allow recall rights for all states concerning president & vice president and congressmen.

As my first attempt to put a platform together, I will look through the sets of issues and platforms of (1) the Greens and (2) the Kucinich & Richardson websites. Then I will announce my particular platform.

Maybe you can advise me as to who has the better issue and perspective.

Note: As of now, I will be accepting advice on-line so that other Americans will be able to learn about how to run a campaign. I will be happy to share that with you on this web-site.

BACK TO THE WRITERS’ STRIKE!

Don’t go back to pondering the writers’ strike or go watching reruns!

Get out and change the system somehow before the USA goes to war in Iran or elects the same-old people in 2008!
